NEW DELHI — India's white-collar employment landscape is poised for significant disruption as Global Capability Centers rapidly integrate artificial intelligence technologies into their operations, a leading market voice has cautioned.
According to reports citing research by Ernst & Young, a substantial majority of multinational capability centers operating in India have already begun deploying advanced AI systems. The survey data indicates that 58 percent of these centers are currently investing in agentic AI platforms, while more than 80 percent have committed resources to generative AI technologies. Market analyst Saurabh Mukherjea, referencing these findings, warned that the transformation underway represents merely the beginning of broader changes ahead.
Global Capability Centers have emerged as major employers of skilled professionals in India over the past two decades, handling complex operations ranging from software development to financial services for multinational corporations. The country currently hosts over 1,600 such centers, employing approximately 1.5 million professionals across technology, finance, and business process domains. The accelerated adoption of AI technologies in these facilities could fundamentally alter hiring patterns and skill requirements in sectors that have traditionally provided stable, well-compensated employment for India's educated workforce.
The development comes as India's technology sector grapples with evolving workforce demands amid rapid technological advancement and global economic uncertainties.
