The Union Education Ministry has committed to conducting a completely error-free NEET-UG re-examination on June 21, following widespread concerns over irregularities in the original test. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan made this assurance to thousands of anxious medical aspirants across the country, including Bihar where lakhs of students appear for the competitive examination annually.
The re-test announcement comes after allegations of paper leaks and marking discrepancies that affected the credibility of India's largest medical entrance examination. Bihar, traditionally contributing one of the highest number of NEET aspirants nationally, has been particularly impacted by the controversy. Many students from Patna, Muzaffarpur, and other coaching hubs have expressed relief at the government's decision to ensure transparency.
The National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for conducting NEET-UG, is implementing enhanced security protocols for the re-examination. These include stricter surveillance measures, revised question paper distribution systems, and additional monitoring mechanisms. The ministry has emphasized that no compromise will be made on examination integrity this time.
For Bihar's students, many from economically weaker sections who invest years preparing for medical entrance, this assurance brings hope. The state's coaching centres in Kota and locally have welcomed the government's commitment, though they stress the need for systemic reforms to prevent future controversies in competitive examinations.
